Recycling container moved in Rochelle

Dear Editor,

On July 7, 2017 the Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department relocated the recycling container in Rochelle from the Big R parking lot to a location on North Caron Road just south of Seventh Avenue.

This location change was made at the request of the Big R store management as the area which previously held the recycling station will be used for additional storage space.

The OCSWMD would like to thank the following for all of their efforts in supporting recycling in the Rochelle area: the Big R store for allowing the container to be in their parking lot for many years, the City of Rochelle Street Department for providing equipment and staff to move the deck for the recycling station, and Tim Bruns and the Errett Warehousing Group for allowing the container to be placed on their property on Caron Road.

The OCSWMD is committed to providing this recycling station for rural residents around Rochelle and those who reside in multi-family dwellings who do not have curbside pick-up of their recyclables.

The OCSWMD reminds users of this recycling station to read about its proper use, never leave items outside of the container, and to only place items in the container that are recyclable through this program.

This container is not intended for business use, as the larger volumes of material cause the container to fill at a faster rate, adding significant cost to the program.

Please keep in mind that recycling is just a small part of reducing what goes into the landfill.

Remember to reduce, reuse, and then recycle.

Please contact the OCSWMD at 815-732-4020, or visit, for a wide range of information, including waste reduction methods, reuse outlets, composting, and recycling options here in Ogle County.
