A simple thank you is not enough to thank our two retiring [Oregon] city council commissioners, Jim Barnes and Tom Izer, not only for the years they devoted to serving the community, but also for the hours they have spent on committees, talking with citizens, and learning the best way to solve the problems of our community.
Whatever problem or project they were given they worked to find the best solution that would benefit the most people.
Lincoln said, “You can please all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time.”
I worked with both men who had the ability to see both sides of the coin, and intelligently choose what would make the most sense.
They sacrificed family time and spent a lot of time on the phone listening to those who had problems.
A simple thank you is not enough for this kind of dedication, but it seems the best we can do.
Thank you both!
