The Ogle County Board appointed a Byron man as the next county planning and zoning administrator during a special meeting on July 30.
Harry Adams Jr., 34, was chosen from a field of three applicants to replace Mike Reibel, who is stepping down on Aug. 30.
Adams is a farmer and also manages a construction firm.
Board chairman Kim Gouker said Adams was chosen because of his professional experience.
“The advantage is he has been involved in zoning on the customer side rather than the government side,” he said.
The board has not yet chosen a replacement for Supervisor of Assessments Jim Harrison who retired Dec. 31.
